- Mark's book is an extraordinarily loving, honest and genuine look at Burt Reynolds' unfailing generosity and encouragement to countless friends, struggling artists, and people who just needed someone to believe in them. Burt was an icon with a servant's heart, and that really comes through in Mark's book. "Because of Burt" is filled with countless stories of all the little things Burt did behind the scenes to help those in need, and you realize by the end of the book just how many successful Hollywood careers were made, sustained or resurrected because Burt made it happen. He was an extraordinary man and this is the book he deserves.
Mark also shares his personal journey through Hollywood, the ups and downs, the struggles, the victories, and ultimately how he chose to take the lessons he was taught by Burt and pay it forward to a new generation of artists.
The book is also a rare and candid look at fame and all that comes along with it. You really gain an understanding of how lonely, disorienting, and ultimately disheartening it can be, regardless of how grounded you are as a human being.

- I loved all of the stories in the book and how many people Burt had an effect on. I really liked that there were many different stories and that you could pick up the book and read a couple of them when you had a little spare time and then come back later and read a few more. Great job.

- When reading this book, it is obvious how much Burt Reynolds meant to the author. But the author is not the only person that Burt Reynolds impacted. Just like the title suggests, so many other people enjoyed unique experiences because of Burt. There are a lot of fun stories in this book as the author looks back on the life that he had in large part because of Burt Reynolds.
- A true “tip of the hat†To his friend and mentor Burt. Just as important an inside story of how much he influenced up and coming actors through his theatre in Jupiter Florida. However this is also the authors journey through his profession,the influencers and friendships plus many potholes,triumphs and tragedies. Mark is Indiana’s version of “ Mr Holland†and The kids he mentored is his “Opus.†Inspired by Bert ,Mark carries on the passion instilled by one of America’s biggest stars and brings it to small town america.
- Always liked Burt Reynolds movies. However, I never know much about him as a person and how generous he was. It was great to get an inside look of the kind of person he was and the huge heart he had. It was also very enjoyable to get a behind the scene account of what it is like in Hollywood and whether the price of fame is worth the cost. I highly recommend this book. If your like me, after reading the book your going to want to rewatch Burt Reynolds' movies.
